Ductile iron has the same corrosion resistance as cast iron. The strength of ductile iron is comparable to that of cast steel. Ductile Iron has higher yield strength, the lowest yield strength is 40K, but the yield strength of cast steel is only 36k. In most municipal applications, such as water, brine and steam, the corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance of ductile iron are better than that of cast steel. Because of the microstructure of SPHEROIDAL graphite cast iron, ductile iron is better than cast steel in reducing vibration ability, so it is more advantageous to reduce stress. One of the important reasons for the selection of nodular cast iron is its excellent properties.
